A meeting is arranged every year to discuss the progress that a pupil is making and to assess whether the school is the right place to continue to meet their needs. This review is a statutory requirement for all pupils who have an Education, Health and Care Plan.
The meeting will be arranged by the school SENCO who will invite parents/carers, the pupil and other professionals to attend and will also ensure that the school has produced a report to present at the meeting. The meetings are usually held on Tuesday mornings throughout the year but alternative dates and times would be arranged to suit if Tuesday morning is a difficult time.
Reviews are generally attended by the Pupil, their Parents/Carers, SENCO, Transition Coordinator, and a Caseworker from the Local Authority. Reviews might also be attended by the Educational Psychologist, Social Worker, School Nurse or other professionals. Parents/Carers can ask for independent support at a review or at other times from the Durham SEND Information Advice and Support Service.
