Computing
Year 7 have been working very hard in their Computing lessons. They have used Raspberry Pi’s and the programming language python to program a SenseHat. In addition to this they have started to make their own traffic lights using the Raspberry Pi and created a circuit using LEDs, a breadboard and resistors. Over the course of the next term pupils will make their LEDs flash and eventually program a button and beeper.
Year 8 pupils have also been working very hard, they have completed multiple projects which have included computing building, website building and some work on Adobe Photoshop (examples shown below).
Year 9 have also been using Adobe Photoshop taking inspiration from an artist called Andy Warhol. Pupils have used their own images, multiple layers, filters and blending modes.
Fridays Football!
Elemore v Windlestone 10:20 kick off.
We got off to a tremendous start and were 2-0 up at half time, thanks to two goals from Taylor. Windlestone scored shortly after half time to make it 2-1. Taylor scored a corker of a hat-trick, making it 3-1. Windlestone got a late goal but the Elemore team hung on to win 3-2. The team’s defence worked great, and every man contributed to a great game. Man of the Match was awarded to Taylor but it could have been anyone! A brilliant team effort from everyone involved.
Dunstanburgh Castle
On Monday 18th March 2019 a group of pupils went to visit Dunstanburgh castle in Craster, on the coast of Northumberland after studying castles in their humanities lessons. Pupils walked up and around the castle, discussing different features of the castle as well as suggesting why this area might be a good place to build a castle.
Once we had seen the castle, we went to Druridge bay beach to look at the tide and the waves that were there and compared those with the waves we had just seen at Craster. It was an excellent day out with all pupils doing very well and behaving brilliantly, well done!
Media – Recycling and Litter Awareness
Key Stage 3 pupils have completed a unit of work on the environment and waste. Pupils from all classes designed a bin to encourage pupils in school to bin their rubbish instead of throwing it on the ground. Each class had side with their own theme, these including, rubbish, graffiti and comics.
