Junior Leadership Team
Elemore Hall has had a very active School Council for a number of years. Recently some School Councillors asked if they can change the name of the group to the Junior Leadership Team, after a unanimous vote the idea was presented to Mr Royle (Headteacher) who fully supported the idea. Henceforth, the School Council will be known as the Junior Leadership Team (JLT).
Each class group has an elected representative and a deputy. At some JLT meeting just the main representative attends, however at other times both take part to get an even better cross section of pupil views. Elections are serious affairs with interested pupils nominating themselves and then having to explain to their class group why they would like to be the representative. Voting is done by secret ballot in a manner similar to adult parliamentary and council elections. We think that this is citizenship in action.
The JLT meet regularly to discuss a range of topics. It was through the JLT that requests to introduce a school uniform were made. JLT representatives are involved in discussing Menus with the Kitchen Manager. . JLT members are always involved in interviews for new staff.
