Joined the governors in 2018
Reasons for becoming a governor – I may be able to help the school using the expertise that I have gained as an academic studying children, schools and inspection. My experience as a university Head of Department and Director of a large Centre may help.
Background information – Professor Peter Tymms PhD is Director of iPIPS at Durham University and was Head of Department in the School of Education at Durham University until 2013; before that he was Director of the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) which runs projects monitoring millions of pupils across the UK and beyond each year. He set up the PIPS (Performance Indicators in Primary Schools Project) which has assessed more than 3 million children worldwide. He has published many scientific papers and won many research grants. Prior to taking up an academic career he was a teacher in secondary schools in Zambia, Cumbria as well as in Easington where he taught science for many years.
