We adapt the curriculum and learning environment for pupils with SEN:
- Small classgroups
- Subject specialist teachers for each curriculum area
- Additional staff support available in both lessons and social time
- All lessons are differentiated to allow access for all pupils
- 1:1 withdrawal sessions to support pupils literacy and numeracy development
- Our classroom curriculum has a greater focus on practical subjects than might usually be encountered in a secondary school
- All pupils are encouraged to participate in regular organized activities beyond the school day
- Close links with parents/carers with regular home contact from a named personal tutor
- Individual personal tutorials for all pupils to promote their personal, social and independence skills development
- Oortunities for all pupils to develop their confidence through representing the school or performing
- Key workers to support pupils in a range of areas – eg, Anti-bullying worker, health promotion, school nurse, Educational Psychologist, Attendance worker and transitions worker
